10 things that impressed me

  1. The Australians attacked, in the press conference and on the cricket ground - I hate them, nonetheless for routing Dhoni's men

  2. A lower court in Patna sentenced 7 killers of an IAS officer - of the 36 accuseds, 29 commoners were acquited, while 6 high-profile politicians were found guilty

  3. Shahrukh got 6-pack abs at 40-plus - never mind that he was paid to do so

  4. Science – it is the gold standard by which to judge a phenomenon, an action, a religion or a philosophy

  5. An express train running between Patna and Darbhanga lowered itself to the status of a slow passenger train in the flood-ravaged stretch between Samastipur and Darbhanga, for the benefit of the flood victims forced into living on the trackside - men, women and children got onto the train top with their burden of feed for their cattle and got down wherever they wanted. The passengers sitting inside the train gave up their natural propensity to fuss and understood and sympathized, notwithstanding their own discomfort and delay

  6. Konkona Sen Sharma played the role of a young mother in 'Mr. & Mrs. Iyer' and that of a young small town girl in 'Laga Chunari...' - in one she looked 5 years elder to her age, in the other, 5 years younger

  7. We are world champs in Chess, under-14 Rugby, Billiards and T20 cricket, Asian champs in Hockey and Nehru Cup winners in Football

  8. Salman refused to have his wax statue put up in Madame Tussaud’s – impressive ego indeed

  9. Bacteria – One bacterial population can teach as much to a Life sciences student as to a wannabe Sociologist (more on this later)

  10. My 5-year-old cousin – he knows if he ‘downloads’ ‘chess’ from the ‘internet’ he may chance to cause a ‘virus’ to enter his ‘laptop’.

Today morning I was thinking that you would certainly write something about the civil court decision in IAS case.

Judiciary still is a force to reckon with in India (CJI Sabharwal ???).
Bihar has suffered a lot from these so called Robin Hood. Justice very much delayed but not denied.

@deeps nd everyone else whoz goin gaga over the trial.......

i have got two words for all of u....
SHIBU SOREN......

the lower court took 13 yrs to deliver the justice..... now the accused will move to high court..then supreme court...then president..then back to supreme court..then president again.....

so i can surely guarantee.... that either anand mohan will be released..or he will die a natural death ........

latest news:

all players of indian football team are sitting on a hunger strike coz of the step motherly treatment given to them by the famous blogger Deepti singh....

inspite of being reminded abt their nehru cup triump she wasnt "impressed" by their achievement.....

to quote a player of the team ...
" its a black letter day for indian football..... why our win wasnt impressive..... we have to sit on the strike against this gross injustice ".....

@Kabir
Yeah, it was a landmark decision...impossible to miss it...

@Piyush
Yes, chances are that the case shall go haywire in the higher courts....death penalty shall definitely be mitigated..but that was not what impressed me - it was the fact that the bigwigs were weaned out of the list for punishment and the low profile mobbies were acquitted...that, in my opinion is bigger history created than awarding the death penalty to Anand Mohan.

Oh yes, soccer too....slipped my mind indeed...shukriya for pointing it out..

Its a landmark judgement.3 cheers to the Active Judiciary and all those 29 bravehearts who testified against these 7 criminals whithout caring for the consequences.They are the real heros who braved the everyday dhamki of these Bahubali Ba*****s.
Just read an article in 'Dainik Jagaran' ---"Sadme mein Ma,Behosh ho gai Patni".I was surprized to see that one of these criminals was a HOD in English Dept.Media reports..."relatives were consoling his wife and daughter".Manjari Devi(mother of Munna Shuka) was crying like anything ,but why didnt she cry for all those innocenst who were killed by them.One of the Culprits wife teached Political Science in Colleges...she says...."Hume faisley par vishwaas nahi ho raha " and then faints.A Political science didnot know what kind of Politics her husband is persuing.The happiest thing about the incident is the relatives of these criminals fainting outside the court of Patna.They should be given a chance to perform in Star Plus under Ms Ekta Kapur.They never felt the pain of the wife of Krishnaiaah whose husband was mercilessly killed for no fault.Think about a Daily Wages Labourer who son managed to become an IAS Offcer.Because he was poor and had no connections ,so he was punishedwith a posting in Bihar(Nobody wants a posting in Bihar).That IAS officer used to meet about 200 people everyday to solve their problems.He was respected by most of his colegues for his humble nature and honesty.The relatives of the criminals never ever thought about the two daughters of Krishnaiah who were just 7 and 8 yrs of age.

@piyush

Let us not be so cynical about the Judiciary. Most of them are now trying their best to nail the Politicians hard. Be it a ‘Reservations Bill’ in Supreme Court or case of DMK-Called ‘Bandh’.If somebody is to be blamed it is “we the people” ,who are electing such criminals and giving them chance to become the Law Makers of our society. Everybody knows about the criminal backgrounds of these people but the common man is so selfish and self-centered that he says ….”Woh Aur Logon ke liye Bura hai,Humare liye toh bura nahi hai”.As it has been reported in the media that …..”there were neighbors and relatives of those criminals who were consoling the near ones of the convicts”. This shows that such dirty elements in the society enjoy a popular support from their friends, relatives and neighbours.They are the sympathizers, due to whom such people win elections even when they are behind the walls. It’s a shameful state of our society. There was a time when people stopped going out of their houses if someone in their family was convicted. Now they brave the camera and say …”Unhe kisi Saazish mein Fasaya gaya hai….woh be-gunaah hain”.

Now about Shibu Soren…It a bunch of several lakh fools in Jharkhand who have given JMM, a substantial number of seats in Parliament. Everybody knows that Shashi Nath Jha was killed because he had knowledge of the deal between the Congress and the JMM and acts of sodomy by Shibu Soren.The Congress Government used all its powers to save this man by forcing CBI (Congress Beau rue of Investigation) to leave many loopholes in the case. What can a Court do when the Investigating Agency does not put forth the basic proofs? And Investigating Agencies are not under Judiciary but are controlled by the legislatures (though they should be Independent).Lets all applaud the Judiciary for taking such a bold step.

@chirag
just think abt one fact...if a high profile case dealing with the cold blooded murder of an IAS that too in front of thousands of people can take 13 years just in the lower court... whats in store for average man.....

something is definitely wrong with indian judiciary.....remember the famous sunny deol dialogue from damini...... something has to be done to save the common man from the clutches of "the tareekh"...

@deeps...

m back again...[:d]

salman refusing madam tussad has less to do with his ego....nd more to do with the fact that his statue was supposed to be put aside that of a ceratin mrs bachhan.....

Buddy,

There are 30 million cases pending in the Courts of Inidia.In the Supreme Court alone,there are more than 1,50,000 cases pending.On an average in a Delhi High Court one Judge listens to almost 50-70 cases in a day.If I tell you 50 complicated stories in a day,I am sure you will forget even the names of the characters.The reason for “Tareekh after Tareek and long gaps between the Tareekhs is the Cunning attitude of Investigating Agencies(Police) and the heavy load on the Judiciary.Long back in 1979, Supreme Court in “Khatoon Vs State of Bihar” stated that there is a urgent need for fast trials and there is no doubt to the fact that delay in justice itself amounts to Denial of Justice.So mant times has the “Law Councill of India” and various committess have requested the Government to increase the Jugde-Population ratio but when the people who are running the Governments are itself the beneficiaries of the delay in Justice System…what else can you expect.Will Mr.LK Advani want a speedy trial in Babri Demolition case? Will Congress want Speedy trials in Bofors Case? Will Mayawati want speedy trial in Taj Corridor case?
Will Lalu want speed trial in Fodder case?And we are the people who elect such people.There may be few corrupt judges also as they also come from the same deteriorated society but by and large Judiciary is the only HOPE for India.

chirag sharma said...

Well I have been speaking to so many people,there is a feeling of euphoria among the people regarding this landmark judgement.Everybody is haapy that atleast one of the gutters in the Political system is getting cleaned.Lets hope all the criminals get what they deserve.

Unknown said...

well i will only celebrate if nd when anand mohan is really executed.....or atleast gets a life imprisonment....
i was so happy when shibu soren got the life term...... but...

COOLDEEPTEA said...

Piyush, since you are a fellow-Patnite, you will remember how the High Court had ordered the removal of water from streets in 1997 - when Lalu let boats run afro on our streets and rainwater logged here for 10 days...u c? when dirty politics was at its peak here, the court had also ordered the making of roads!

The Judiciary is the least corrupt wing in India, apart from Defense.

Unknown said...

@deeps

i am not against judiciary.......
but still the fact is in india its very easy for the rich nd famous to fool it....whatever be the reason....lack of political will....the long brigade of black coat LIARS.....or ne x,y or Z...

when the judge himself says that he know that the man in front of him is the killer but he cant punish him....i had to believe something somehwre is wrong!!!!

chirag sharma said...

Sorry to say...Defence is as corrupt as any other department of India,only difference is Officers in defence are hippocrites and Media is not allowed to penetrate into defence.

chirag sharma said...

Piyush,

I Judge is not a Dictator who can do anything up to his wish and will.We all have got some basic understanding of Constitution of India.Judges are not the law makers.They have to decide the cases as per the Law.If IPC 300 requires some minimum Proofs and witnesses to proove the case against the accused beyond reasonable doubt...the Judge has to base his judgement on the rules prescribed.If the laws in the IPC and CrPC have to be changed...they can only be changed by the lawmakers...not the Judges.And who are these Lawyers.They are among our own family members.I am sure many of us know lawyers.Have we ever asked them that why is it that they are defending Criminals when they know they are guilty.Most of the Criminal Case lawyers in private practice are finding out ways to defend their clients irrespective of what they have done.

Unknown said...

thts why most of the criminals get away from ne damn crime...... coz of liars nd our soft laws....

i think, Indians are only 1% law consciouss compared to the US...

And yet, the judicial system is having probs...
